Sub Title : Challenges for women

A list of challenges faced by women in India :-

**Gender Inequality** Despite legal protections, gender inequality remains deeply entrenched in Indian society. Women often face discrimination in areas such as education, employment and access to resources.
**Limited Access to Education** While efforts have been made to improve access to education for girls, disparities persist, particularly in rural areas. Factors such as poverty, early marriage, and cultural norms contribute to lower enrollment and higher dropout rates among girls.
**Economic Empowerment** Women in India have lower labor force participation rates compared to men and they are often concentrated in low-paying and informal sectors. Gender pay gaps and limited access to credit and entrepreneurial opportunities further hinder women's economic empowerment.
**Healthcare Disparities** Women in India face challenges in accessing quality healthcare, particularly in rural and marginalized communities. Maternal mortality rates remain high, and reproductive health services are often inadequate or inaccessible.
**Child Marriage and Female Foeticide** Child marriage and female foeticide are prevalent in certain regions and communities, despite legal prohibitions. These practices have detrimental effects on girls' health, education, and overall well-being.
**Political Underrepresentation** Women are underrepresented in political leadership positions, both at the national and local levels. Although there are constitutional provisions for reservations in local government bodies, women's representation in legislative bodies remains low.
**Lack of Legal Awareness and Enforcement** While laws exist to protect women's rights, enforcement and implementation remain inadequate. Many women, particularly those from marginalized communities, lack awareness of their legal rights and face barriers to accessing justice.
**Technology and Digital Gender Divide** Women in India face a digital gender gap, with lower rates of internet access and digital literacy compared to men. This divide limits women's access to information, economic opportunities, social networks.
